SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS
As a foundation that primarily organises charity drives, we do our very best to encapsulate important values and initiatives.
Although our donations do include the basic amenities, we aim to progressively work towards more sustainable solutions to common issues such as hygiene, security, food, access to electricity and adequate education. We can proudly say that we have been able to complete projects during every single one of our events.
This is a path of environmental and economical betterment that we will continue to take and hopefully increase our reach and impact as we grow as a foundation.
WATER FOR WILDLIFE
Nairobi National Park, Nairobi
During a particularly severe drought season, the Great Drive Foundation ventured into the Nairobi National Park on two consecutive weekends, Sunday 5th, and 12th March, 2023 and used the combined efforts and resources of the members of our community to fund the refilling of Park dams, in an effort to control the future damages before it's too late.
We successfully raised the money to purchase 120'000 litres of water and delivered it to the national park, where it would help to sustain the depleting wildlife population that call the park home.
We strive to do more in this line of conservation and hope that this is the first of many for the conservation of wildlife, both within and outside the borders of our wondrous country.

FURAHA FENCE PROJECT
Nanyuki, Laikipia
The Furaha Fence Project was set up by donors and the participants of the 2nd edition of The Great Drive: Tarmac Bundus and was completed in November of 2021. Its refurbishment provided an added and necessary feeling of safety and security to the people in the Nanyuki Furaha Foundation children's home that it now stands to protect.
This particular home had been victim to multiple robberies earlier that year, which had been called to attention during our initial visit to the home in May of 2021. Alerts and all the details for the necessary donations were promptly forwarded to members of our convoy, as well as all interested contributors.

MT ELGON TREE PLANTING
Mt Elgon National Park, Kitale
During our fourth edition, The Next Adventure in May of 2022, The Great Drive Foundation adopted 500 seedlings of the endangered Elgon Teak tree to plant in the Mt Elgon National Park to celebrate the 50th anniversary of World Environment Day. Local communities depend on these trees for firewood and construction of their houses. Additionally, the reforestation will aid the problems the park has with habitat destruction and wildfires.
The day was spent planting these seedlings, in an effort to create impacts whose effects will echo across the succeeding generations, and encourage others to follow in our footsteps, working towards sustainability in all aspects of our lives.

MWERENI ROOF INITIATIVE
Moshi, Tanzania
Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind is located in Moshi, Tanzania, and was the beneficiary of our donations during The Great Drive 6: The Kili Loop.
The kids at this school are the National Goalball Champions. We watched them play in the hot sun with an old goalball that badly needed to be replaced. And we knew what we had to do.
The Great Drivers came together, and with the help of donors and our sponsors, we got them a new goalball and built them a roof over their goalball training area.
We are very grateful to all the members of The Great Drive family who generously contributed towards this project, which symbolises the value of team sports and the unbreakable bonds it forms.

AL-AQSWA BED PROJECT
Matanomane, Kilifi
The Long Road Home event, held in December of 2021, opened up windows of opportunity for The Great Drive family to provide for Markaz Al-Aqswa, an orphanage located in Matanomane, a small town, founded in the early 1970s, deep in the interiors of Kilifi County.
Markaz Al-Aqswa houses approximately 105 girls from poor families and was in dire need of beds for the staff and children that they accommodate.
The Great Drive Foundation raised funds to purchase bunk-beds for the orphanage, which were assembled and delivered with the help of one of our sponsors, Auto Movers.

MANGROVE PLANTING
Miritini, Mombasa
The Great Drive added yet another feather to its cap in regards to our steady efforts to better the environment. We are aware of the dangerous impact global warming has on our planet and in an effort to reduce the effects of our ignorance, we partnered with Blue Earth Organization during the 3rd edition of The Great Drive: Long Road Home for a mangrove planting activity at the Mkupe Conservation in Miritini, in December of 2021.
Mangroves have an enormous ecological value and bring forth considerable benefits to both the coastlines and the people who inhabit them, and we are keen to do everything we can to help actively promote sustainable environmental habits.

MADRASSA ANSWAR SUNNAH
Mambrui, Malindi
Our water tank installation during the first edition of The Great Drive: The Road Less Travelled, in Mambrui, Malindi was extremely successful.
A mesh water tank was donated to Madrassa Answar Sunnah, a boy's home in the outskirts of Malindi, to provide a long lasting water solution. These tanks come with a lifetime manufacturers warranty with a durability of a minimum of 15 years if well taken care of, and are guaranteed to help the children's home and their residents with their water shortages, and make it a little easier for them to get through the difficult times. The tanks, however, are only a temporary fix and are the very beginning of what The Great Drive Foundation strives to accomplish.
